Welcome!

As our Rising Star on-line presence and community continues to grow, the excitement seems to be growing right along with it! You've probably noticed by now that lots of things are happening fast here. People are jumping on-board quickly to help - and that's a true blessing!

Articles and updates will come from our Pastor, "Deacon D" (Chair of the Deacon Board), several of the associate ministers, and even the Young Adults! We'll be delving into just about anything you could think of on a church website and more - and if you register on our site, you'll be able to comment back to us right here...

But - as with every on-line community - there are some basic rules to follow:

First, rule number 1: This is an unapologetically Christian community. We are not ashamed of the Gospel. See our entries on Faith and Doctrine to learn more. We live by these values and by the rules of Christian fellowship and respect. We extend this respect to the Body of Christ and to non-believers alike, and we expect you to do likewise while participating here.

Next, all comments to this site will be moderated for content before they show up. No - we will not change your opinions, or even correct your spelling (unless it's really that bad), but this is how we will enforce rule number 1 (above). We have several moderators and automatic notification of new comments. Be patient with us as we will work through and approve comments as quickly as possible. We'll let you know if we something should be changed before allowing it through - and give you the opportunity to change it.

That said, remember this is Rising Star's community, and our leaders have the absolute final say about everything that gets posted on this site. You have plenty of other sites out there to post your opinions on without our approval if you really feel the need to have them on-line.

Finally, the contents of everything you post here becomes the property of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. Your posting something here is your agreement to this. We maintain that the intellectual property of others, as well as our own, should be absolutely respected. This rule is to ensure that we maintain full control over what's posted here. Please do not post anything here that you do not have the right, or do not wish, to assign ownership of the posted material to Rising Star.

Now that we have the basic rules covered, we also pray that you find what gets posted here enlightening, informative, and applicable to your daily life. We look forward to the dialogue!

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, and holiness; to give it a place in our affection, prayers and services above every organization of human origin; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God has prospered us, towards its expenses, for the support of a faithful evangelical ministry among us, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. In case of difference of opinion in the church, we will strive to avoid a contentious spirit, and if we cannot unanimously agree, we will cheerfully, recognize the right of the majority to govern.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to study diligently the word of God; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be kind and just to those in our employ, and faithful in the service we promise others; endeavoring in the purity of heart and good will towards all men to exemplify and commend our holy faith.

We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good word and work, to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, and with tender sympathy bear one another’s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Savior, in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report, and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, who hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible, to unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word.

After feedback from our members, consideration and prayer, we have decided that providing a way for our members and friends to give electronically from our site is a need. As a result, we had added the option to give on-line using PayPal. We will also continue to promote and provide other means of on-line giving through your own financial institution's automatic bill payment service.

To use PayPal, either choose the Donate button below, or you can also select the Give On-line option from our site's main menus.

We also have Six Month Gift Subscriptions, which are monthly recurring donations ranging from $50 to $250 per month in increments of $50.

We haven't replaced the other forms of giving either! If you would prefer to use other on-line services such as your banks automatic bill payment service, we also highly encourage you to do so. And, as always, tithes and offerings can still be made during church services.

Nearly all banks and credit unions provide bill payment services free of charge to you, and with this option, 100% of the proceeds of your tithes and offerings reach Rising Star. PayPal does charge a fee for their service, which they graciously discount based on that we are a 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization.

How do you give on-line via a bill-pay service? The answer is it depends on your financial institution's bill payment system. Each one is a little different, and we advise that you check with your financial institution for specific instructions. They are certainly more than willing and able to assist you with whatever you need.

Remember, regardless of if you give in-person, or electronically, your gifts remain tax deductible. We pray that providing the option to use this new on-line giving service, along with keeping the option of the familiarity of your own bank, will strengthen the convenience and confidence of giving your tithes and offerings electronically!
